Custom-made orthopaedic insoles

An orthopedic insole, sometimes referred to as a footbed support, is a custom-made foot orthosis designed and manufactured by an INAMI-approved healthcare professional (bandagist, orthotist or orthopedic shoe technologist). It is designed to : – correct defective foot statics and/or any static and dynamic imbalance below 20mm – envelop and compensate for foot anomalies
– unload and relieve painful plantar supports
– prevent and/or treat foot injuries in diabetic patients
– support the various arches of the foot
– improve comfort and reduce pain. Orthopedic insoles are produced following a medical prescription by a specialist (e.g. in orthopedics, rheumatology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, etc.) and a careful examination of the feet and, more generally, the posture, as well as a study of : – plantar support with the podobaroscope
– podographic impressions
– the expression of needs related to the living environment and/or sports practice.
Custom orthopedic insoles are manufactured by shaping or thermoforming, in line with the patient’s comfort and footwear. In the case of insoles for diabetic patients, they must be combined with a suitable shoe (orthopedic or semi-orthopedic). The materials used include leather, cork, polyethylene and EVA (high-density copolymer) foams, polyurethane, etc. Our care providers systematically seek out the optimum customized solution for the patient, in order to achieve the best therapeutic effect combined with optimum comfort. Innovative materials are combined with more traditional ones to obtain the strongest, most comfortable finished products. All our products are manufactured in our orthopedic workshop.

a) Insoles for sports
Why sport-specific insoles?
Every sport requires a specific foot movement. Each discipline has its own characteristics, and insoles need to be designed specifically for the sport in question. If not to improve performance, a well-fitting shoe at least reduces fatigue and the risk of trauma. b) Orthopedic insoles for diabetics
Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by abnormal insulin secretion. Diabetes can lead to serious complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, atherosclerosis, foot lesions (ulcers, infections, Charcot osteo-arthropathy) and even amputations. Our orthopedic technicians have developed specific orthopedic insoles for diabetic feet.
Which insoles for diabetics?
There are two types of insoles for diabetic feet: the first is the so-called preventive insole, designed to act as the first barrier to possible ulcers, to be combined with semi-rigid shoes preferably designed for diabetic feet; the second is a curative insole in the event of ulcer or major osteological disorder, or even amputation, to be combined absolutely with prefabricated or custom-made orthopedic shoes. A 3rd mode of orthopedic intervention is total unloading with a walking boot and specific orthopedic insoles for diabetics…
These insoles have been developed and finalized by us.
