Hartmann tuning fork

Hartmann tuning fork

The Hartmann tuning fork is a medical device with a vibration frequency (128 – 256 – 512 or 1024Hz depending on the model). It is regularly used in instrumental acousmetry to establish an initial diagnosis of deafness or hypoacusis. It is used in the Rinne test, to compare air conduction and bone conduction. The results of this test, combined with those of the Weber test, enable us to differentiate between sensorineural hearing loss (damage to the inner ear) and conductive hearing loss (damage to the middle or outer ear). For a complete hearing assessment, these initial examinations should be supplemented by audiometer tests. Made of stainless steel, it can be autoclaved at 134°C for 18 minutes, and can be cleaned by machine or by hand with a cleaning product that does not attack stainless steel. Available in 4 models: 128Hz, 256Hz, 512Hz and 1024Hz.
